Parking Violations

On-Street Parking
On-street parking is permitted in the City of Ithaca, but is restricted by two city-wide regulations in addition to any street side signage.

24-Hour Parking
The city has a city-wide 24-hour parking restriction in addition to other parking regulations. This regulation requires that a vehicle be moved at least once every 24-hours Monday through Friday. Violation - Overtime Zone #02

Odd / Even Winter-time Parking
On-street parking is also restricted between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., from November 1 to April 1, for snow removal and street cleaning purposes. These restrictions prohibit parking on the odd-numbered side of the street on odd-numbered days and the even-numbered side of the street on even-numbered days. This applies anywhere in the city unless otherwise posted. Tickets are issued to violators, so please contact the Parking Violations Department at 607-274-6581 if you have questions. Residential Parking Permits
The city passed an ordinance permitting the sale of residential parking permits for on-street parking in certain neighborhoods. Questions should be referred to the City Clerk's Office at 607-274-6570. Violation - Residential Permit Zone #25. Please note that this violation has a progressive fine structure.

Parking Violation Ticket Payments
The Chamberlain's Office accepts payments of tickets issued for parking violations within the City of Ithaca. We can also provide parking violation appeal form. Your parking violation. Payments should be mailed or presented to the City of Ithaca Traffic Violations Bureau. Parking tickets may also be paid with a credit card online. If you need to call us about a parking ticket, please have your license plate number handy when you call; we will need this in order to verify ticket information.

Late Payments
Parking tickets not paid or appealed within 20 days of issuance accrue a late payment penalty of $15 in addition to the fine. Also, failure to pay or respond to parking tickets may result in certification as a scofflaw with the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles and prevent the renewal or transferring of the vehicle registration. If more than five tickets remain unpaid, the vehicle to which the tickets were issued may be impounded.

Moving Violations
We do not accept payments for tickets issued for moving violations within the city. City-issued moving violations are payable at:
