City Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination (IDDE)
Many people either don't recognize the fact that storm drains are connected directly to our waterways or, just don't think about it during their normal routine. Motor oils, pet wastes, grass clippings, commercial kitchen mop water, poor or no protection of drain systems from sediment during construction, and many other sources of contaminants have been blamed for the systemic degradation of our streams, rivers, and lakes. The City of Ithaca has developed a program to address these issues before they become a bigger problem.
