The Department of Public Works will begin street cleaning operations on April 2, 2018. Residents who park on city streets should sign up to receive street cleaning notifications through the Swift911 system (see link below) and check on their vehicles daily through April 30th as "No Parking Zone" signs will be posted on the streets 24-hours in advance of the cleaning. All vehicles remaining on the street after 7:00 a.m. will be ticketed and towed at the owner's expense. The standard towing rate in the City of Ithaca is $100 plus sales tax, and storage fees are $25 per day for any vehicles that are not picked up after 24 hours. The City will send out notifications to people subscribed to the "Street Cleaning Notification List" in Swift911. If you will be out of town during the month of April, please make off-street parking arrangements for your vehicle. People in need of long term parking arrangements can call the City Chamberlain's Office at (607) 274-6580 to inquire about the availability of long-term parking permits in the city's garages.
The City's construction season will begin soon! We've got some much needed utility and road infrastructure projects planned and motorists may want to choose different routes reach their destinations. We're happy to share construction updates with you through our Swift911 system, simply subscribe to the "Construction Update List". Please Note: construction updates will mostly be sent out as e-mails due to the amount of text associated with them.
If you need assistance registering for Swift911, please contact the Department of Public Information and Technology at (607) 274-6570.
