PROJECT NAME: East State Street Sewer Replacement – Stage 2
PROJECT LOCATION: Overall project - between Schuyler Place and Stewart Avenue. Stage 2 component of project.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Major sewer main replacement, water and sewer services, road surface reconstruction.
PROJECT GOAL: Increase capacity of 75 year old sanitary sewer interceptor between Schuyler Place and Stewart Avenue.
PROJECT START DATE:
Stage 2 - Tentatively, June 11, 7:00AM – Continue from Stage 1 to begin saw cutting pavement in anticipation of replacing first 675 linear feet of main, water and sewer services from Schuyler Place to Stewart Avenue. On or shortly after June 11, this section of roadway will be placed into alternating one-way during the day using signal lighting.
Stage 2 completion – Tentatively Friday, July 27, 2018, 4:00PM, at which point replacement of the next section will begin under Stage 3.
ENTIRE PROJECT SCHEDULED COMPLETION DATE: On or around October 15, 2018
LOCAL IMPACTS: East State Street will be reduced to a single lane controlled by one-way traffic lights during working times starting on or shortly after June 11. Temporary traffic signals will be placed at the eastbound Schuyler Place intersection and on the westbound Stewart Avenue intersection. Expect heavy east and westbound State Street delays. On June 11 and for duration of the project, Schuyler Place and the Southbound lane of Stewart Avenue heading into East State Street will be closed to thru traffic during work. At the end of each working day (roughly 5:00pm), the City is expected to return operation of State Street back to 2-way and lift the closures on the side streets.
RECOMMENDED DETOURS: From E. Green Street heading eastbound onto East State Street – Will be controlled with a one-way traffic light at Schuyler Place. From East State Street, heading westbound into City – Will be controlled with a one-way traffic light at Stewart Avenue. Schuyler Place – Will be closed to thru traffic during work. Eastbound vehicles heading along Buffalo will be directed past Schuyler Pl to Eddy Street. Westbound traffic heading along Buffalo will be directed past Schuyler Pl to Aurora Street. Stewart Avenue – Vehicles intending to head west on East State Street from Stewart Avenue will be directed westbound down E. Seneca Street. Vehicles intending to head east on East State Street from Stewart Avenue will be directed eastbound on Buffalo Street to Eddy Street.
From Route 96/Aurora Street/The Commons area – State Street will be closed to thru traffic inside the Tuning Fork between East Green Street and Seneca Way. Traffic heading north bound into the City who then turn eastward onto the 300 block of State Street will be diverted northward onto Seneca Way.
