The Enclose Cass Park Arena Project is awarded a grant in the amount of $523,269!
The Enclose Cass Park Arena Project has been named as one of 109 projects in the Southern Tier awarded funding through New York State’s Regional Economic Development Councils. The enclosure will extend the rink’s season for winter sports, improve conditions for spectators and skaters, and provide additional opportunities for year-round use of the space. The rink is used by more than 40,000 people annually for ice skating, hockey, broomball, roller derby, summer camp, private parties, and other events.
Ithaca Youth Bureau Director, Liz Klohmann states that - "We have been anticipating the award announcements for weeks and are ecstatic about the grant. The Rink has been a local and regional attraction for people of all ages for many years. We are excited about the possibilities an enclosed, conditioned space brings. In addition to enhancing all of our year-round programming that occurs at the rink we envision many more community events, tradeshows, tournaments and more. We are grateful for the generous support from the community - individuals, businesses and foundations, and especially the Friends of the Ithaca Youth Bureau who have been supporting this project since its inception."
