Department of Public Works Announces Sidewalk Improvement District 2022 Draft Work Plan Virtual Open House
The Engineering Office of the Department of Public Works will hold a virtual open house for the draft 2022 Sidewalk Improvement District (SID) work plan. The brief presentation will be followed by a discussion period, and will take place via Zoom on Aug 9, 2021, at 4:00 PM. Documents for the 2022 Proposed Sidewalk Budget and Plan can be viewed on the city’s website here: http://www.cityofithaca.org/219/Sidewalk-Policy
Please email email@example.com for the zoom meeting link by August 9th at 12:00 PM.
Based on this open house meeting, the Department will develop a final proposed work plan and budget to be presented to the Board of Public Works. The budgets for each SID will be translated into the Mayor’s proposed budget and reviewed by Common Council during their budget review process this fall. Projects that are not included in the 2022 work plan will be considered for 2023.
We continue to encourage property owners to voluntarily repair sidewalks along the front of their properties. New sidewalk construction and repair work is eligible for the past work credit as outlined in the local law. Please take note that all sidewalk work requires a Street Permit not only for the work, but also to be eligible for the past work credit. Other documentation is required as well. Any sidewalk installation or repairs required by the Planning and Development Board as part of the City of Ithaca Site Plan Review process are not eligible for the past work credit.
Questions about undertaking sidewalk work can be directed to the Engineering Office (607) 274-6534. Written comments will also be accepted via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
